Just getting back from Amy Goodman's talk about corporate media and the need for more independent truthful information outlets. I feel inspired. Truth isn't relative. There are simple truths like, if you touch something hot, you'll get burned, and more complex truths like why we go to war, and the mystery of how our government actually works or doesn't work. But one thing is as certain as the sky is blue; truth is there.

As a sixty year old Southern American woman, I have had a number of experiences in life, but always from the bottom up. Seems no matter what endeavor I have taken, nor path I have explored, the simple fact that my government is not “of, by or for me,” has proven to be a hinderance, of which I'm certain will continue to grow and continue to put our very lives at risk. I grew up the oldest of seven girls, with my seventh sister and I sharing a 14 year span in age distance. My father was a marine who went to Vietnam; a simple man from Mississippi, a poor man from Mississippi, who, I believe did the best he could, despite PTSD. My mother was a nurse for years, until office politics and a lack of continuing education forced to reconsider her heart, and she came to the conclusion that nursing had lost its compassion for patients, in favor of corporate politics and she retired at 40, disgusted. I lost both my parents in the past three years and they both died at home within a year of each other.

At age 18, and after the birth of a daughter, I entered the United States Air Force on December 15, 1978. I joined in an open general field, which meant, the military could train me in whatever position they saw fit. I wouldn't know what I'd be doing until boot camp was over. Imagine my shock and dismay to find out, I was to become an 'electronics operations intelligence analyst'! My goodness – radars, missle systems, wow, not sure what all that meant, but it felt like glorified spy business. Needless to say, truth was an inner quest for me, even at that time, and after questioning the integrity of actions within the intelligence community, it was agreed that the Air Force and I would have a parting of the ways and in 1982, I was discharged due to apathy and a defective attitude, and they were right. I was mad about the lies we're told by the government, the media and amongst ourselves, the people, to whomever will listen. Then they handed me, along with collected Letters of Recommendation, the Good Conduct medal.

I have discovered that many of us are prey for industries that profit within our own government, and, in turn, make our lives difficult. Something as small as “park fees,” when it is “public” land and we are the “public.” Don't we already pay taxes for the stewardship, not control, of our publics lands? Why deny most of the population the right to visit parks and other national monuments and pay a fee? Then there is the Children's Protective Services. An entity of power until itself. The foster care system and the juvenile justice system are both mired in such secrecy, its hard to know how many children really are cared for and are counted as valuable within the system. Alas, another horror story many of us share. Then there is the prison industry, where an innocent man can be declared guilty upon the word of any who care to conspire to exert, not execute, justice. But where is that justice emanating from, and what foundation is under the laws we are forced to obey, other than profit and narcisstic lawmakers who only look for personal gain, instead of the people's best interest.

At one time, our nation stood tall above the others in the world, not for our military might, not for our economic prosperity, but for our solid ideals and moral judgement. We have lost our way. No matter how you slice it, we have to come together in love. No matter, left or right, rich or poor, black or white, yellow, white, or shades in between, we are all valuable when we share ideas, joy and love. But what where those ideals of old? Giving, not getting. Caring if the neighbor has food. Making children a parent's priority. A husband's, his wife. And understanding, without thinking, that blessed entity called LOVE, true brotherly love, love based on, I'm a human being, you're a human being; we have to start somewhere, or THEY, those who do “spiritual wickness in high places,” will attempt to destroy the love, peace and joy, we all strive for, in our beings. Call this love entity what you will. Our Creator has many faces. And so does evil. Wherever there is discord, anger, jealousy, resentment, envy or deceit, there is the absence of love. It's time we come together on basic principles of “treating others, as we'd like to be treated, ourselves,” before, as my friend says, “There's nothing but “hater ade” to drink, and we all go Jonestown way. The time to love is now. The time for divine interaction to stop the jack booted thugs from hitting our doors, is now. Feed the poor now. Don't know where there are? – in the next block down your street. Know someone who's lonely, sad? Give of your time. Don't wait for Santa and Christmas glitz to propel you into remembering Jesus Christ. He was a man of action, not a man of inaction. But above all, figure this out. What are you willing to fight and die for? I hope it's truth because it will set us FREE!
